The announcement of the new part of the Yakuza series was expected and at the same time unexpected. The fact that the studio Ryu ga Gotoku decided nevertheless to continue the history of Japanese criminal clans has been known for a very long time. However, the surprise was that the April Fools' joke about turn-based battles is actually not a joke at all.
Producer Yakuza: Like a Dragon Masayoshi Yokoyama talked about the new combat system. A detailed analysis of the innovations should appear over time, but so far we have learned that the fights themselves are not at all arranged in the same way as under Kiryu. Participants do not find themselves in an isolated space, life around them continues in real time. The exception is only a few bosses.
Thanks to this, objects that are present on the “battlefield” will be able to turn on. Heroes, as before, will be able to beat enemies with bicycles, road cones and even motorbikes - if their characteristics allow.
At the same time, no one cancels the laws of physics. If there are obstacles in the way of a character running towards a target, he will stumble and fall. And if someone else is standing in front of the subject chosen for attack, he can intercept the blow.
Cars may also be involved. They will knock down someone who accidentally jumps out onto the roadway - or is pushed out there. During the battle, the usual QTE-inserts will appear. However, ideological opponents of this system will be able to disable it.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be presented at the Tokyo Game Show 2019, which opens on September 12, and the developers promise to publish video stories about her. And the western release of the action movie is scheduled for 2020. The game will be released by tradition only on the PlayStation 4.
