The official Playstation blog has another update related to a future remake of the classic adventure game MediEvil. In it, Sony representatives showed several new screenshots of the game, and also compared the adventures of the clumsy skeleton of Sir Daniel Fortescue with (you will not believe) the Dark Souls series!
“It's amazing how much MediEvil looks like Dark Souls, given that this game came out more than ten years earlier than the epic adventure from From Software. First, MediEvil levels are labyrinths full of secrets and shortcuts. Secondly, this game is complicated! This is not a brainless slasher for you: even individual enemies cause significant damage, and groups of opponents easily send an unwary player back to the grave.
During the game you will replenish your arsenal. Some types of weapons break down over time (shields and batons), and some have limited ammunition (throwing daggers and crossbow). Add to this difficult levels and thoughtful battles with huge bosses, and try not to remember Dark Souls at the same time. However, Dark Souls has never been so carefree ...
"For all fans of From Software games and simply interested in the history of gaming, MediEvil is able to offer a unique look at the gameplay style that has become so successful these days."
Sony representatives also promised that they won’t change much of the game’s fan favorite and will rewrite the classic soundtrack with direct participation of the original music authors - Bob & Barn. Also in the update it is reported that the "voice" of the protagonist, Jason Wilson, will return to his role.
A remake of Medievil is due out October 25th exclusively for Playstation 4.
