Yesterday, quite unexpectedly, Sony announced that it had acquired Insomniac Games, developers of games such as Ratchet & Clank, Sunset Overdrive, and Spider-Man. The announcement was posted on Twitter.

For a long time, Insomniac worked with Sony on several exclusive franchises, and also worked with other platforms and previously with games such as Sunset Overdrive, Song of the Deep, and the exclusive Oculus. However, his most popular games are typically used on PlayStation consoles, which is most likely the reason for this acquisition.

In a press release, Sony emphasizes that in the future, Insomniac will develop games exclusively for the PlayStation.
