They are dissatisfied with harassment and the fact that the company prevents to sue in these cases
Employees of Riot Games, developing League of Legends online mob, are preparing for a strike. All because, in their opinion, the leadership discourages lawsuits on harassment. Employees also do not believe that their company is struggling with harassment, and does not pretend. This became known from game portal Waytpoin.
The journalists received information from two employees of Riot Games, who wished to remain anonymous. The danger of strikes was confirmed by Angela Roseborough, the main person dealing with the problems of inclusivity and diversification in the corporation. “We want to talk openly on Monday night and invite employees to have small conversations,” she writes in the work chat, “where they can express their displeasure and get the whole context of how things are going.” The latter refers to the way Riot Games is struggling with an unhealthy work environment in which the company has been accused more than once.
However, the words of Angela further angered some of the staff. They saw another leadership attempt to hush up the problem with the help of small groups discussing harassment. It is not yet clear whether the strike will take place, but it is known that its “districts” were already discussed in the summer of 2018, when an extensive article by Kotaku foreign portal about harassment inside the corporation was published.
Nicolo Laurent, CEO of Riot Games, supported his employees in their quest to "stand up for themselves and in what they believe." At the same time, he urged to discuss the strike and other problems in group meetings.
Recall that at the end of last week it became known that employees of Riot Games are forced to go to private arbitration. It is believed that it is more convenient for employer respondents than a jury trial.
