We are now at a stage when the studios announce the project exclusivity status in advance.

Rest assured that Kerbal Space Program 2 will be available on a wide range of digital PC stores at the time of release.

The developers also answered the question regarding the availability of microtransactions:

There will be no purchased game currency, no loot boxes. Microtransactions have never been part of Kerbal, and we will not transfer this to KSP2. Our goal will be to provide players with impressive content. Right now we are aiming for a great launch!

Regarding mods:

This will be a new start for KSP, so your old mods will not be ported - but the new technology “You cannot transfer old mods to a new part, however, we will give modders unprecedented access to tools that were not in the original game. 

Kerbal Space Program 2 will be released in 2020 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
