Ion Fury developers say NO. NO censor

After the scandal that erupted in the ResetEra form and was picked up by the media, information appeared that Ion Fury developers would remove from the game all the elements that could offend anyone, which met with a negative reaction from the gaming community. However, now Voidpoint studio and 3D Realms publisher have issued a joint statement refuting the earlier information:

“Our allegations of censorship of Ion Fury game content have made quite a stir. We definitely will NOT censor either Ion Fury or any of our other games. Not now, nor in the future. This also applies to such jokes as the most scandalous means of washing in the history of video games. We do not support censorship of creativity in any way and regret our initial decision to change the sprite in the game. We should have listened to our instincts. The opinions of 3D Realms and Voidpoint on this issue coincide.

We admit our mistake and your reaction is quite clear to us! ”

Recall that some users accused the developers of Ion Fury of inciting hatred and transphobia due to statements made in the game’s Discord server. Then, an in-game soap sprite called “OGAY” and a texture hidden in the game with the word “fagbag” were accepted as a manifestation of hatred.

A new joint statement by Voidpoint and 3D Realms came out on the same day with a resonant article by independent journalist Sofia Narvitz. In that text, among other things, it was reported that initially an experienced troll launched the persecution of developers on ResetEra, and the publisher of 3D Realms insisted that the developers apologize.
