The Serious Sam series has been developed by the Croatian company Croteam since 2001 and has already become a cult, although not completely. The First Encounter and The Second Encounter became the most popular parts of the franchise, followed by Serious Sam 2 and the controversial Serious Sam 3: BFE. And in the future, the fifth game is expected - Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass.
In 2009 and 2010, the first and second “Advent” received an update to the graphics. And now in the early access Steam appeared the project Serious Sam Classics: Revolution. It began as an improvement of First Encounter and The Second Encounter five years ago, but since 2016 has not shown any signs of life. However, Croteam has now taken it. And that's what has changed.
Firstly, this is now one common game. Secondly, the kit includes new enemies and the boss, eight fresh campaign maps, survival mode and multiplayer modes, as well as Serious Editor and Serious Modeler.
The Serious Engine engine was modified to support 64-bit systems and added enhanced support for graphical shaders, as well as various Steam functions. Among the latter there are cloud saves, achievements, leaderboards, controller support, and so on.
It is important to note that this update is precisely the original games, not HD remakes. Classics: Revolution is cheaper than HD First Encounter and HD Second Encounter. And the owners of the "classic" versions of Serious Sam on Steam will get it for free.
