During the Kickstarter campaign, the creators of the erotic sci-fi game Subverse promised early access to the action movie to all contributors. However, now about 50 thousand people will remain “overboard”: in the early access, Subverse decided not to let out.
As the creators explain, they consulted with renowned game producers. In addition to FOW, two full-time software developers with experience in AAA games have joined. After discussion, the studio decided that beta testing with 4,500 players would completely replace early access.
Why is early access not suitable for Subverse?
- Single story-based role-playing games are usually not sent to early access. Early Access - for shooters, bagels and MMOs, where there are game cycles and dynamic online components that need to be thoroughly tested.
- One of our consultants noted that we have almost 4,500 ready-made beta testers. This is a huge resource that we can use to customize the gameplay, and it negates the whole point of early access.
- Subverse is a story-driven game, and you need to go through it whole, and not in episodic mode, due to early access. If you need to wait a month before the release of the next chapter, this will badly affect the dynamics of the game.
- We already see the difference between the fully completed chapters of the game and those intended for early access, and this is heaven and earth in terms of quality. It would be a real wreck to show you the project before we bring it to the proper level.
FOW
So far, the studio has not yet explained whether it is going to somehow compensate for the removal of early access from the awards to investors, because many have probably counted on it.
In the meantime, those who paid at least $ 75 will be able to take part in the closed beta testing of Subverse. It will begin on September 28, 2019. Players will be available training and the first mission. In addition to testing add an endless battle mode.
